Hello! :) I’m Liz and I…
… love, love my job.
… am a wife, big sister, little sister, aunt, daughter, grand daughter and dear friend.
… dream of adding “mother” to that list sooner than later.
… actually enjoy the cha-cha slide during your reception and I love getting shots of you all clapping your hands! “clap, clap, clap your hands!”
… love road trips (preferably the winding back roads) so please don’t let my location stop your inquiry!
… was born/raised a Navy brat and am now a happily married Army wife. I don’t think I need to say that our servicemen have a special place in my heart.
… have two snorting boston terriers who gave my husband and I a (one and only) litter of pups this past spring (I’ve since forgiven them).
… wish I could be BFFs with every bride who hires me. It’s way more fun to share a wedding day with a FRIEND!
… think I should have been born in the 30’s or 40’s because I dream every day of being a 50’s housewife.
… strive to give you timeless images that you will still love ten or twenty years down the road.
… love ALL kinds of music from bluegrass to go-go (my ghetto roots shining through) to blues… if I know the lyrics, I like the song!
… absolutely love, adore and cherish my family. They are the most important people in the world to me and I always strive to keep them first.
… truly enjoy building long-term relationships with my clients and having the opportunity to capture different events in their lives.
… currently have an unhealthy obsession with twitter. You should follow me!
… am a proud member of the Professional Photographers Association (PPA) and the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International (WPPI).
… will be on a high for about 3-4 days following a birth session. Birth is simply. breathtakingly. amazing.
… have a college degree in graphic design.
… am a volunteer photographer for Operation Love: Reunited, Pink Initiative, and my local church family.
… love, love to travel. Not just around the state, but around the world. I went to Nepal earlier this year and look forward to a trip to Burundi next fall.
… believe I was born to dance. You may or may not catch me dancing at your reception while simultaneously taking pictures.
… can’t remember if I already said that I love my job? Have I mentioned that?
Frequently Asked Questions
Where do you live?
I currently live in Lynchburg, Virginia but a LOT of my business is in and around the Fredericksburg, Virginia area. Fredericksburg is my hometown and I love to visit any chance I get. Please do not hesitate to contact me about a session if you are not located here in Lynchburg. Travel within the state is included in all wedding packages and is just $50 extra for portrait sessions - no matter where you are within the state. If you are outside of Virginia, please contact me for more details.
What time should we meet for our session?
My absolute favorite time of the day for a photo shoot is right at sunrise. However, I understand not everyone is an early riser like I am! Another great time of day for good lighting is right before sunset. I will try to book your session as close to sunrise or sunset as possible for optimal lighting situations.
How many images will I receive?
I try to keep it as simple as possible around here. A portrait session will deliver 25 artistically enhanced images on disc. By hiring me as your photographer, you are telling me you trust my artistic vision. That said, I will choose the 25 images for your disc. I highly believe in quality over quantity and I want to deliver only my best work to my clients. Exceptions for this are bridal portrait sessions and maternity sessions. For more information, please contact me.
How long have you been a photographer?
Love & Laughter Photography has been in business for almost three years. Before then, I took a number of different photography classes in college and workshops when I was even younger. I remember at the age of 11 standing in a dark room (at summer camp, of course!) thinking “how does this man expect me to learn anything in this pitch black room?” But I did, I loved it, and I’m still doing it today!
What is your style?
Though my photographic style is continually evolving, I like to think of my personal style as fresh, gentle, clean and colorful. I’ve been using Photoshop since I was 12 years old (no joke, anyone out there remember v. 2.0?!) and I love to use it to develop my images. I spend a lot of time on each and every image with the goal of creating a piece of art every time. That said, I continually strive to take timeless images while making each a creative project of its own. I love a good challenge!
Do you have a studio?
Though I would love to have a home studio someday (the goal always to keep my family first in my life), I do not currently have one. Right now I am loving the challenge of taking on new locations for each session and I get absolutely giddy when I discover a new public field or patch of forest. My heart beats for natural light and I feel that my work really excels when in/around nature settings.
