When Samantha and her mom first met with me they were inquiring about a May 2010 wedding. When they decided to book with me we set up a time to get together to talk details and sign the contract for a May wedding. So, life happens and our lunch date was put on hold for a bit. Before we rescheduled our lunch date, I got some not-so-great news from my husband about our plans for 2010 (i.e. they were no more). Knowing Samantha’s beau was a soldier in the same unit as my husband, I knew this news was going to affect them as well. I nonchalantly held off scheduling our lunch date so they could soak up the news and figure out what their wedding plans would be. That way they wouldn’t have to go through a contract change process with me if they changed their wedding date.
Well, the army changed their date. And luckily I was available. I mean, is there anymore more romantic then a soldier getting married before he is to deploy? I think not. At least… not in my opinion.
I was so thrilled to be a part of this meaningful day and I hope the photos taken can help these two hold onto their wedding day a bit longer as they are apart in the coming year.
I can’t tell you how many times I had to hold back the tears during this day. The first trigger was when Rahul came out at the start of the ceremony and read the “In Memory of” paragraph on the back of their program. Even he choked up a bit.

Okay, well I’m getting ahead of myself. Let’s start with the getting ready part of the day.

So let’s just say that it hasn’t always been Samantha’s dream to have a winter wedding. But she was suuuuuch a beautiful winter bride. Her porcelain skin against the wintery white gave the softest feel to her photos. Seriously, look how beautiful she was!

It was only a matter of coincidence (or fate?) that her previously selected blue, white and silver color scheme also worked very well with the winter weather. Don’t these bridesmaids look like little princesses?! The Matron of Honor knitted all the white scarves for the bridesmaids at the last minute! So fun!

The groom and groomsmen looked pretty slick as well.

The ceremony was beautiful:

Then we bolted outside for some quick group shots before the reception:

In honor of our troops, Samantha requested an American flag to be hung at the reception and had The Star Spangled banner played at the start of the reception. (Deep breath!) It was the sweetest thing, something I’ve never seen at a wedding before. She gave her new husband the biggest hug and kiss at the end of the song and it was a quick reminder of what was coming up in the next month. To support the patriotic theme, we took a few photos of their rings laying on the flag. I don’t even know if this is legal? Is it? In any case, I love the way the photo came out!

The whole day, from start to finish, was a dreamy, beautiful winter wedding… and it was perfect. Perfect for them, perfect for their story. We were so honored to be a part of it. Thank you guys for inviting us to join you. I hope you are cherishing these last few weeks with one another!
