Gratituesday: Pieces of Fall

autumn

Fall comes around at the perfect time. Just when you think you can’t take another hot summer day… just when the strawberry shortcake dessert doesn’t seem as exciting as it was three months earlier. You know what I mean, right? I love the four seasons we have here in Virginia, however, autumn is my favorite… hands down! This week, even though it’s been a hot one, I have experienced little bits of autumn that remind me that my favorite season is just right around the corner. Ahhh the thought alone brings a smile to my face!

Some of my favorite things about Fall are:

  • VA Tech football!!!! yeahhhh!!
  • The Hokie colors filling our Blue Ridge mountains with beautiful scenery.
  • Starbuck’s Carmel Apple Spice. It just isn’t the same in the summer.
  • A big, hot bowl of buttery and sweet Cream of Wheat. Sooo delish!
  • Ahhh my friends, the characters of Grey’s Anatomy, return to my TV once a week. I know that’s a little pathetic, but I have really missed them! (And I might have to further miss Izzie and George, not sure yet. I don’t wanna talk about it.)
  • Fresh salsa!! I make this stuff year round, but I make it a lot more often during the fall. (It’s the perfect football game snack food!)
  • The smells! Ooooh the smells of autumn! Cinnamon, nutmeg, pumkin, campfires, all cozy smells! And the candles, baked goods and hot drinks to go along with them.
  • My favorite part of autumn weather is the AIR! And that my husband is okay with me opening all the windows in the house. I just love a fresh, wide-open home, and I can only get that in the fall. Even in the spring it is sometimes too moist.

What is your favorite season? What do you love the most about it?

August 25, 2009 - 9:15 am Julie - I feel like I'm reading what I wrote, it sounds so much like me! What a great post! I, too, missed our Grey's friends; I nearly died when it turned out to be George! Here's to a happy, smelly (in a good way), tasty, and beautiful fall!!!
