I don’t know how many more times I’m going to mention that 2009 is a big year of change for my growing business. But it is, and I’m just going to have to to mention it every time I announce a new change!
So today I am excited to announce that I am changing the way I outsource certain areas of my business. I am but one person and I currently still work at another full time job (did you know I am a web designer? I am! Did you also know that running a business is a full-time job in and of itself? Oooh don’t get me started….!)
So! I have been forced to learn better time-management skills. And I have discovered the beauty of outsourcing! I have been outsourcing some areas of my business for the last year or so, but I slowly realized that I am outsourcing the wrong areas. So I have made some changes in my workflow and come up with a new plan of what will be outsourced and what will be in-house work.
I <3 paper. And pretty packaging. I always have. Paper and bags are the two things I have a very hard time tossing out. (And I’m a purger! I LOVE to simplify!) Starting soon, I will be doing all print packaging and mailing in-house. That means everything you order comes through me and will officially have the “Liz” stamp of approval when it arrives in your hands. And that makes me very happy.
What else does this outsourcing change mean for you? Well, because my workflow will be better (ahem, faster!) this means you get your pictures back a lot sooner! No more 6-8 week wait for your wedding pictures to arrive in your mailbox! We’re now looking at a 2-3 week turn-around time. Not to mention the album design and printing process will be a lot faster as well.
I am just so excited about all that I am learning in this business. There are some incredible photographers out there who have been willing open up and share what they have learned and without them, I would continue down the road of “trial and error.” With the support and guidance of these photographers as well as other business advisors, I feel confident that my travel down the photography road will be a very long, enjoyable adventure.
And THAT makes me happier than you can imagine!
And of course, since all blog posts are better with a photo, here is another favorite from John and Sharon’s session!
