Glimpses of Nepal

About two weeks ago I arrived home from Nepal and kicked off my wedding season, all in one week! I can’t wait to share photos of both events with you. Everything has been chaos since I arrived home and I would be lying if I told you all my laundry was done and luggage has been put away. The few days Tommy and I did have to spend at home, one or both of us were sick.  Even the beautiful snow day we just had! (I was not the sick one on the snow day and I was able to capture a few photos of our big snow of 2009.)

To hold you over until I can get some real posting done, I would like to share with you a few of my favorite images from Nepal. I hope you enjoy them.

These children were begging for money “for food.” We went across the street and purchased some box drinks, raisins and pastries for them instead.

Standing on a rooftop a few miles outside of Kathmandu, I did my best to capture the sunrise. The heavy pollution and dust in the air made it a challenge.

A baby wrapped in her mother’s shawl sleeps through the church service.

“Jaimaishi!” A common greeting among Christian believers in Nepal.

Children on the streets of Butawal.

Nepali culture does not smile for the camera. The little smirk you see on the face of the little boy is him trying to contain his excitement about seeing his image on the camera right after I took this picture. :) (Seriously!)

As a friend said to me recently, “I have been on a lot of missionary trips and it is amazing that while you are talking about it [after your return], you always end up sounding like a commercial because there is nothing like seeing the need in the world that makes you passionate about filling the void.”

I honestly couldn’t have said it better myself. If anyone of you is interested in hearing more information about sponsoring a child through the Allow the Children organization, please feel free to contact me! I wish I could sponsor every child in the country after seeing the difference just $24 a month can make.

More photos to come!
